India's cooking gas prices surge for first time in a year. Indian Oil Corporation and state refiners have raised LPG cylinder prices by 7 percent amid global supply disruptions. A 14.2-kg domestic cylinder in Delhi now costs 913 rupees, up from previous levels, while commercial 19-kg cylinders jumped to 1,883 rupees. The price hike reflects Middle Eastern supply constraints stemming from geopolitical tensions affecting global LPG markets. India, the world's second-largest LPG importer, relies on Middle Eastern sources for 85 to 90 percent of its imports, with overseas supplies accounting for roughly two-thirds of total consumption. The country consumed 33.15 million metric tons last year. Indian authorities have directed refiners to increase domestic production to prevent shortages as global prices remain elevated.
