Vietnam has emerged as an economic powerhouse, delivering sustained 8% growth in 2025 while reducing poverty from 80% in 1993 to below 5% today. Starting with Doi Moi reforms in 1986, the country shifted from centrally planned economy to market-oriented system, strategically aligning global liberalization with internal reforms. Vietnam's integration into global supply chains accelerated through deregulation, export incentives, special economic zones, and competitive labor policies. The nation has secured 18 Free Trade Agreements with major partners including the EU, UK, Asean, China, India, South Korea, and Japan. Vietnam's global trade share surged from 0.1% in 1996 to 1.5% in 2023, while merchandise exports jumped from $32 billion in 2005 to $475 billion in 2025.
