Small businesses demand card flexibility over approval. A new survey of 514 U.S. SMB executives reveals a significant shift in credit card priorities. While 83% of small businesses feel confident getting approved for new cards, what they really want are flexible features. More than half want due dates aligned with their cash flow and receivables cycles. Additionally, 56% are interested in cards letting them choose between rewards or lower APR each statement period. SMBs showed willingness to pay an average of $125.65 annually for these flexible spending features like installments and dynamic limits. This signals a major opportunity for card issuers to compete on product design and customization rather than approval rates alone. The market is shifting toward tailored solutions that match how businesses actually operate.
