Asian Development Bank commits $70 billion to transform regional infrastructure. The ADB announced two major initiatives: the Pan-Asia Power Grid Initiative with $50 billion investment and the Asia-Pacific Digital Highway with $20 billion, targeting completion by 2035. The power grid program will integrate 20 gigawatts of renewable energy, construct 22,000 circuit kilometers of transmission lines, and extend electricity access to 200 million people. The initiative is projected to generate approximately 840,000 jobs while reducing regional power sector emissions by 15 percent. ADB will finance nearly half the program from its own resources, mobilizing additional capital through co-financing partnerships. These interconnected infrastructure projects aim to lower energy costs, expand digital opportunities, and strengthen cross-border connectivity across Asia and the Pacific region.
