STT hike reshapes derivatives trading landscape. The securities transaction tax increase has significantly impacted equity derivatives volumes, with BSE capitalizing on the shift by reducing its charges. BSE's average daily notional turnover in the Futures and Options segment jumped nearly twenty percent month-on-month in April to reach two hundred sixty-nine lakh crore rupees. Meanwhile, NSE's notional turnover declined approximately twenty-six percent to two hundred sixteen lakh crore rupees. This dramatic reversal resulted in BSE capturing fifty-five percent of notional F&O turnover in April, up from forty-four percent in March, while NSE's share fell to forty-five percent from fifty-six percent.
