Godavari Biorefineries expanding ethanol production capacity. The company will commission its grain and maize-based ethanol facility in North Karnataka this quarter, adding approximately 2 lakh litres of daily production capacity. This expansion increases total ethanol output from 6 lakh to 8 lakh litres per day, or 10 crore to 16 crore litres annually. The company invested around 130 crore rupees in this facility. By co-locating with existing sugar operations, Godavari leverages bagasse from sugarcane crushing for energy needs, reducing external fuel costs and improving efficiency. The dual feedstock approach using both sugarcane and grain diversifies production and mitigates climate-related risks. Ethanol currently represents one-third of company operations. This strategic move aligns with India's ethanol blending mandates and growing demand for grain-based biofuels.
