India appoints new Navy Chief. Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, currently Western Naval Commander, will assume charge as Chief of Naval Staff on May 31, succeeding Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi. Swaminathan brings nearly four decades of distinguished military service with extensive operational and strategic expertise. Commissioned in 1987, he is a recognized specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare who has commanded multiple naval vessels including the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and guided-missile destroyer INS Mysore.
