CCI cracks down on bid rigging in Assam police tenders. The Competition Commission of India has directed 17 firms to stop anti-competitive practices in tenders issued by Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd for electrification works. The regulator found evidence of collusion through bid rotation and cover bidding, supported by identical submission errors, matching IP addresses, and consecutive demand draft numbers. The firms, including M/s Purbanchal Enterprise, violated competition rules while bidding for internal and external electrification projects under the government's Mission of Overall Improvement of Thana scheme. The CCI initiated proceedings based on a complaint from the Office of the Accountant General in August 2020. The entities now face strict compliance requirements under Section 3 and Section 48 of the Competition Act.
