Gen Z Singaporeans are talking sustainability but not walking the walk, according to a new study by Singlife and the National University of Singapore. While 60% of Gen Z report high awareness of environmental issues, they lag behind older generations in actual green behaviors. Baby Boomers and Gen X are significantly more likely to use reusable bags, recycle, and purchase energy-efficient appliances. Researchers suggest this "say-do" gap stems from younger generations questioning the impact of individual actions. Cost remains a key barrier, and despite climate anxiety, Gen Z continues to drive fast fashion trends. The study highlights a critical disconnect between environmental knowledge and practical implementation among younger Singaporeans.
