Adani Power acquires Jaiprakash stakes for Rs 4,193 crore. The company has signed definitive agreements to acquire a 24% stake in Jaiprakash Power Ventures for Rs 2,993.6 crore and the 180 MW Churk thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh for Rs 1,200 crore. This acquisition strengthens Adani Power's generation portfolio and expands its thermal power sector presence significantly. The deal, part of the NCLT-approved resolution plan for debt-ridden Jaiprakash Associates, will be completed in cash within 90 days from March 17, 2026. JPVL operates thermal and hydro assets totaling 2,220 MW capacity and has interests in coal mining, sand mining, and cement businesses. The Competition Commission of India and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal have already approved the transaction, clearing regulatory hurdles for completion.
