Breaking Infrastructure News: PM Modi to Lay Foundation for Major Assam Connectivity Project Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam in March to launch the Silchar-Shillong-Guwahati high-speed corridor, a transformative infrastructure project valued at 22,864 crore rupees. This strategic investment aims to dramatically reduce travel time between Silchar and Guwahati to just 4.5-5 hours, significantly improving regional transportation connectivity. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed additional major infrastructure developments, including a twin-tube underwater road and rail tunnel across the Brahmaputra River costing 18,662 crore rupees. The state has already secured project sanctions worth 55,000 crore rupees, with the Union government committed to implementing infrastructure projects totaling 80,000 crore rupees under the Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative.
