India tightens PM E-DRIVE scheme rules with new deadlines and price caps. The government has revised guidelines for its Rs 10,900 crore electric vehicle incentive program, setting registration deadlines of July 31, 2026 for electric two-wheelers and March 31, 2028 for electric three-wheelers. Price caps have been introduced, limiting eligibility to two-wheelers priced up to Rs 1.5 lakh and three-wheelers up to Rs 2.5 lakh. The scheme remains fund-limited with total disbursements capped at Rs 10,900 crore, meaning programs will close once funds are exhausted. The electric three-wheeler L5 sub-component has already met its target and closed on December 26, 2025. Overall volume caps are set at 24.79 million electric two-wheelers and 39,034 electric three-wheelers. These changes aim to streamline vehicle subsidy distribution while managing government spending on EV adoption.
