India's brewing industry is making a significant bet on Uttar Pradesh's economic growth. The Brewers' Association of India announced plans to invest approximately ₹5,500 crore in the state over the next three years, focusing on greenfield breweries and ancillary manufacturing. Two new brewery units worth ₹1,500 crore are already under construction, while aluminum can production plants valued at ₹2,000 crore and glass production units worth ₹2,000 crore are in development stages. Additional investments in malting units and paper box manufacturing are also planned. The industry's optimism stems from Uttar Pradesh's new excise policy, which the sector views as progressive and business-friendly. The policy maintains beer taxation while introducing marginal increases on spirits, ensuring beer prices remain stable.
