Piper Serica accelerates deeptech investment push. The Mumbai-based asset management firm has deployed nearly 210 crore rupees across 33 early-stage startups through its Category I Alternative Investment Fund. With a total corpus of 273 crore rupees, the firm plans to deploy the remaining 63 crore rupees within two to three months. The fund strategically focuses on technology-first companies in high-growth sectors including deeptech, fintech, artificial intelligence, spacetech, defence, semiconductors, and biosciences. Current portfolio companies include Alt Mobility, Sensesemi, Pantherun, and Six Sense Mobility. Fund leadership emphasizes India's shift from consumption-led to capability-led growth, citing a 6 lakh crore rupee defence procurement pipeline and a 10 billion dollar semiconductor mission as drivers of industrial demand.
