European car sales momentum builds as Tesla breaks losing streak. Overall registrations across the EU, Britain and EFTA rose 1.7% in February to 979,321 vehicles, rebounding from January's decline. Tesla's February registrations surged 11.8% year-on-year, ending a grueling 13-month negative streak and matching Chinese rival BYD's 1.8% market share. Electrified vehicles dominated the market, representing two-thirds of all sales, with battery-electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid registrations climbing 20.6%, 32.1% and 10.1% respectively in the EU alone. These vehicles now account for 67% of EU registrations, up from 58.5% a year prior. Major European manufacturers showed mixed results, with Volkswagen and Stellantis posting gains of 2.2% and 9.5%, while Renault declined 14.3%.
