Tariff refund system launches Monday for businesses. The Supreme Court ruled in February that President Trump imposed tariffs without constitutional authority, and now importers can claim refunds through a new online portal starting at 8 a.m. Over 330,000 importers paid approximately 166 billion dollars in tariffs on more than 53 million shipments. As of mid-April, nearly 57,000 importers completed registration and are eligible for refunds totaling 127 billion dollars including interest. The refund process will be handled in phases, with CBP processing claims within 60 to 90 days. However, not all taxed imports qualify for the initial rollout, which is limited to cases with estimated but unfinalized tariffs or those within 80 days of final accounting.
