Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City achieved a significant milestone, processing over 170,000 passengers on Friday, marking the highest single-day volume in more than a decade. The airport handled approximately 1,037 flights during the fourth day of Lunar New Year celebrations, surpassing earlier forecasts that projected around 165,000 passengers. This represents a 15 percent increase compared to the same period last year and approximately 50,000 more passengers than typical daily operations. The surge reflects strong domestic travel demand as Vietnamese citizens returned home following the holiday period, with inbound flights accounting for nearly 100,000 arrivals. Airport officials reported that operational efficiency remained intact despite the exceptional traffic volume, with no major congestion issues reported.
