Target is scaling next-day delivery through its Shipt subsidiary, expanding from six pilot stores to one hundred locations across fifty markets by year-end. The Target Last Mile Delivery Direct model replaces expensive long-haul shipping with local, community-based deliveries from Shipt drivers and shoppers. This approach reduces logistical costs and improves delivery speed. By expanding to fifty metro areas, Target will provide next-day delivery access to sixty percent of the U.S. population. The company reports that eighty-five percent of items sold in stores qualify for next-day delivery, encompassing hundreds of thousands of products. This initiative strengthens Target's competitive position in e-commerce fulfillment.
