Major London development secures approval for 20,000 homes. Barking Riverside Limited has won revised outline planning permission for up to 20,000 residential units across its 443-acre east London site, marking a significant expansion from the original 10,800 home consent. The scheme, a joint venture between housing association L&Q and the Mayor of London, will deliver over 4,000 affordable homes alongside two public parks, three schools, health facilities, and commercial space. With more than 3,000 homes already completed and hundreds under construction, the project is transitioning into accelerated build-out. Homes England has invested over £170 million in enabling infrastructure funding. This represents London's largest single-ownership development and a major brownfield regeneration initiative supporting the capital's housing supply objectives.
