The 6.5-kilometer tunnel, inaugurated in 2025, was constructed at a cost of ₹2,400 crore and provides critical year-round connectivity to Ladakh by bypassing an avalanche-prone mountain stretch. The infrastructure ensures uninterrupted military logistics and civilian access during harsh winter months when traditional routes become impassable.
