Apple shifts Mac Mini production to US amid tariff pressure. The tech giant will begin assembling Mac Mini computers at a Foxconn facility in Houston later this year, marking its latest US investment following an $600 billion commitment announced last August. The move comes as President Trump threatens 25% tariffs on overseas-manufactured products. Apple's Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan stated that while Asian production will continue, the US assembly line will serve local demand as it ramps up. The Houston expansion will also include a new advanced manufacturing training center. However, Apple's track record on such commitments is mixed, having previously shifted production away from a Texas facility promoted in 2019. The company currently manufactures most products in Asia, though it has diversified some production to Vietnam, Thailand, and India in recent years.
