India's Jan Suraksha schemes mark 11 years of impact. The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana have settled claims totaling Rs 25,160 crore since their 2015 launch, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced. PMJJBY alone has disbursed over Rs 21,500 crore to more than 10.7 lakh families, while PMSBY has settled Rs 3,660 crore for 1.84 lakh families. These flagship social security schemes have achieved over 27 crore, 58 crore, and 9 crore enrollments respectively across the three programs. The introduction of the online Jan Suraksha Portal has streamlined enrollment and accelerated claims processing, enabling faster support to beneficiary families. With affordable premiums starting at Rs 20 annually, these schemes continue expanding financial protection to underserved populations across India's insurance landscape.
