UAE logistics transformation accelerates with rail expansion. Etihad Rail's nearly 900-kilometre network represents a strategic shift from road-dependent freight systems toward rail-based infrastructure designed for scale and reliability. Since inception, the network has transported over 80 million tonnes of bulk cargo, including 16 million tonnes last year across aggregates, construction materials, petrochemicals, cement and steel sectors. Each freight train replaces approximately 300 heavy trucks, operating on fixed schedules unaffected by congestion or road incidents. This predictability addresses critical supply chain pressures including production delays, driver shortages and fuel volatility. Economic analysis indicates rail investment generates significant multiplier effects across construction, manufacturing and logistics industries.
