Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme 5.0 set to support Indian MSMEs. SBI Research projects that 1.1 crore MSME accounts, representing 45 percent of the total MSME portfolio, will become eligible for benefits under ECLGS 5.0. Each account is expected to receive an average additional credit flow between 2 to 2.3 lakh rupees. The aviation sector stands to gain particularly from this initiative, facing significant pressure from elevated ATF costs that consume 30 to 40 percent of operating expenses, alongside reduced passenger traffic due to Middle East geopolitical tensions. With outstanding aviation sector bank credit at 52,600 crore rupees as of March 2026, the proposed 5,000 crore rupee allocation represents 9.5 percent of current exposure. MSME credit demonstrated robust growth of 27 percent in FY26, increasing its share to 18.
