Bt cottonseed prices held steady for 2026-27 kharif season. The decision came through late-night gazette notification on April 23rd following committee recommendations. Last year saw Bolgard II increase over 4 percent from 864 rupees, making this year's freeze significant for the seed industry. The government is legally obligated to notify MRP annually under the Cotton Seeds Price Control Order 2015, regardless of price changes. While seed manufacturers had requested proportionate increases aligned with general inflation, the stability may provide relief to farmers facing input cost pressures during the upcoming planting season.
