Petco shifts growth strategy after operational improvements. The pet retailer completed its cost-saving phase in 2025 and now targets sustainable top-line growth by focusing on highly engaged customers called "Passionate Explorers." The company plans to expand fresh food offerings with 1,000 additional freezers, introduce new brands and flavors, and grow owned brands. Fresh food buyers make four more trips annually and spend 50 percent more than dry-food customers. Petco will also expand supplies with innovative products and scale services including vet hospitals, grooming, and dog training. The omnichannel strategy aims to deliver compelling products, trusted store experiences, and integrated platforms to capture market share in the competitive pet care industry.
