Firebird Metals secures $2m ARENA grant for EV battery innovation. The Australian mining company has been awarded funding to advance its manganese-to-cathode processing technology and build a demonstration plant in Perth. This breakthrough approach converts manganese ore directly into cathode materials, eliminating conventional processing steps and reducing energy and capital costs. The technology, protected by five LMFP patents through 2045, addresses a critical supply chain gap as virtually all global LMFP cathode material currently comes from China. The grant signals strong validation of Firebird's commercially viable technology and supports Australia's sovereign manufacturing capability in battery production, a strategically important sector for the EV market.
