Sebi launches verified badge initiative with Google to combat fraud. The Securities and Exchange Board of India has partnered with Google to introduce a verified badge on Google Play for stock trading apps offered by Sebi-registered entities. Over 600 apps have already been verified. Sebi chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey announced that the regulator is requesting Google to use artificial intelligence tools to track finfluencers who violate regulations. The agency has escalated more than 1.3 lakh instances of misleading investment content to platforms for removal and flagged 66 fake trading apps for takedown. An API-based framework ensures only verified intermediaries can advertise on Google and Meta. Sebi will also sign a memorandum with MeitY and DoT to strengthen action against cyber fraud and protect retail investors from fraudulent schemes.
