Coal India to auction 25.62 million tonnes in April amid West Asia energy crisis. The state-run producer is increasing coal supply through its unified SWMA platform to meet surging demand driven by disruptions in LNG, LPG, and crude oil supplies from the region. March auctions reached 32.532 million tonnes, up from 20.5 million tonnes in February, signaling strong market appetite. Multiple Coal India subsidiaries will participate, with Mahanadi Coalfields offering 8.5 million tonnes and Eastern Coalfields contributing 4.7 million tonnes. Coal India controls over eighty percent of domestic production and recently opened auctions to neighboring nations including Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal to optimize resource utilization and enhance transparency in procurement processes.
